“Build a Guitar” was an item on my bucket list as far back as the 1970’s. But about the farthest I ever got back then was to buy a book on Classical Guitar Construction and start making some clamps.
I did build three hammer dulcimers and a couple long necked dulcimers and a dozen Cajones while I was still working and raising a family. But no guitars.
Finally, thanks to Charles Fox at American School of Lutherie, I checked that item off the list shortly after retiring in 2012.
In class, we built a guitar in two weeks. When I came home and tried to do it again by myself it took a year. Of course, I had to make a lot of jigs. And clamps.
Since retiring, I have built 10 steel string acoustic guitars, 2 solid body electric bass guitars, 2 Venezuelan Cuatros, and my latest project is….. Well that is the subject of this blog. Enjoy!
